Cookson Hills Electric Cooperative is excited to offer a world-class, fiber-to-the-home network! We began the fiber network buildout in 2021 and completed the initial project in early 2024. We continue expanding our infrastructure to those homes and businesses that are not located in our initial service area in order to serve new areas.
Cookson Hills continues to build a world-class fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network – the gold standard of communications transmission – over our existing electric distribution infrastructure and beyond. This project takes fiber directly into homes and businesses, delivering reliable, high-speed internet and phone services to our subscribers.
We have successfully completed the expansion of services to our current members within our three-year goal. Additionally, we are working to extend our services to specific areas that were not included in our initial service territory. As a result of the broadband expansion, over 18,000 rural homes and businesses in Oklahoma now have access to high-speed internet.
If you receive electricity from Cookson Hills Electric Cooperative, you are already eligible to sign up for Cookson Hills Connect internet and phone services. If you do not receive power from CHEC, simply call our office at 800-328-2368, and we will be happy to help you determine if you are eligible.

No, CHEC will not raise electric rates to subsidize the fiber project. While Cookson Hills Connect is a subsidiary of Cookson Hills Electric, the two businesses are operated separately, and the fiber project will not influence electric rates.
Since Cookson Hills Electric and Cookson Hills Connect are operated as two separate companies, you are not able to make one payment for both of your electric and internet/phone bills. While you are welcome to enclose both payments in a single envelope, please make certain you separate the payments and indicate the individual account numbers for each bill. This helps ensure your internet and electric bills receive the proper credit.
*Please note* If you currently take advantage of our Automatic Bank Draft option for your electric bill, you must complete new paperwork for the internet bill if you wish to utilize Automatic Bank Draft for your Cookson Hills Connect account.
